Learning real estate from home.

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Not too long after my Father died my Mom wanted to try to add her income some. She ended up having to sell her house since she didn’t have death insurance and could no long afford the payments on one income. One of us kids might have helped her with payments or bought it ourselves but really we all just wanted to forget that house and some of the memories it held.
So my Mom at almost 60 years old took a community college course on real estate. She disliked the community school because it required her to be there at a specific time and it was never convenient. She also had to drive about 30 one way to the school. I know she would have loved to have taken an online course rather than attend a school. Well
Nevada property management training has online classes and a great learning set up. They are located in Las Vegas but that doesn’t mean that you have to live in Las Vegas to attend. They offer interactive classroom settings, online and correspondence work. They also have a very flexible course load so you can work at your own pace. Check them out and maybe you’ll find your next career option.

I can’t help but ask why.

Too many people I know and don’t know have lost a loved one. My husband’s employee lost a loved on on Christmas day…. two bloggers I read have lost a father or father-in-law. I know it is not my place to question why…. but I can’t help it. Why? Why take these people at this time of year? Why take the good ones and leave the bad ones here? It doesn’t mean I don’t have faith, it just means I am human. It hits too close to home, honestly.

My Mother had her picture taken recently and she emailed it to me today. I never realized how old she has gotten until I saw that picture. I’ve seen a thousand pictures of her, I’ve taken hundreds myself…. but today that picture scared me.

I could relearn the piano.

When I was a kid my older brother bought a piano, when he and his wife divorced my parents kept the piano for him. This meant my sister and I would be taking lessons and using that piano. I disliked going to the teachers house but loved playing. I know if I could have done it in my own home I would have kept learning. I’d love to get back into Piano lessons & piano chords. I signed up to get some free email lessons. If I like them then I might buy the DVD version to get more advanced lessons.

Moving brings change, change is good.

Planning a move is difficult. Not too much when you move locally. We’ve moved a lot, once just around the blog and this last time was to another entire state. Thankfully we’ve never had to worry about international moving. I can’t even begin to imagine how stressful that would be.

There is a company out there that can help you will all your moving needs, relocation.com. They can help you with international moving, transporting your car, renting or mortgage to help find a new place or new job. Hooking up your utilities, finding the insurance you’ll need and even finding storage if you need it. Seems just about every possible thing that you’d need to know about moving is right there.

I’ve got it all designed in my head.

This past summer my husband and I finally got the AKAmatching tattoos we had wanted for years. We had talked about many different styles and things we wanted to get that matched, but in the end we used the one idea I loved the most, also the one I created. Of course since my tattoo has the “AKA” I think it is much cooler than his “AAA”.

But I love them both. I only wish I could see the darn thing. The deal we made AAAwith the tattoo guy was I designed his website and bought him a year of hosting. Basically $40 and my time. Well he has since moved out of town about 4 hours away and I’ve continued to work on his site for him so he mentioned having a “tattoo credit” since I’d been helping him so much. While I’d love to get a tattoo for my Dad on my ankle I’m not really wanting to drive four hours away. But a tattoo for basically my time and gas… its hard to pass up.
