I want my balance back.

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

I’ve been without medication for two weeks now. It hasn’t been horrible but it sure hasn’t been easy either. It was not my intent to go without medication but the doctors office and the pharmacy are having a battle of wills. He said, she said kind of deal. I don’t care who did or said what, just please get me my pills. I even offered to make an appointment or come pick up a new prescription whatever, I just need my meds please.

Finally today I was able to speak to people at each place and I might just get some pills tonight. The worst is yet to come. Coming off of my medication is never really that horrible but getting back on them is. So please have patience as I try to regain control of the balance I’ve had. If I get my pills tonight, the following week will be like extreme emotional volleyball. I’ll be up, down, sideways and I’ll feel like I’ve been punched in the head and gut.

The thoughts won’t be pretty and as hard as I’ll try I won’t be able to control my emotions. Someone is bound to get hurt… probably me.

Tyler’s Hope for a Dystonia cure.

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Tonight while browsing around the net, I came upon a post that touched my heart. Tyler is a happy 7 year old boy. A little over two years ago he began having problems. After many doctor visits he was finally diagnosed with Dystonia.

Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder affecting the central nervous system characterized by involuntary and often painful spasms of the muscles. This disorder currently has no cure and progressively robs one of the ability to control voluntary movements and even the ability to walk. * Tyler’s Story.

For Tyler it has gotten so that at times he cannot eat because he cannot close his jaw. His little sister was recently diagnosed with Dystonia after having watched her brother suffer from it as well. It has been a very hard couple of years for this family.

TylersHope.org is a non profit organization working to find a cure. They want to raise awareness in order for diagnosis to be found quicker, to find effective treatments to ease suffering and to find a cure for this debilitating disorder.

You can help support TylersHope by buying products to help promote awareness, shirts, hats, visors, a lapel pin or even a beautiful bracelet or you can donate with a check or through paypal. TylersHope is operated by volunteers only, which means 100% of your donation goes towards finding a cure.

Proud old man.

Speaking of my Mom’s friend she was telling me the other night that he’s got some serious problems with his one good eye and he’s not too happy about it. He was a truck driver for years and he got cancer in his left eye from having the sun in his eye so often. They had to do some type of surgery to that eye and I think he had a stroke too. So he’s really only got the one eye to see with. The eye dr told him he’d be blind within years. This is man started a new contracting business less than 4 years ago and does almost all the labor himself. He can’t lose his eyesight. It would just kill him. He turned down their offer for pre- training to learn to use a cane and read braille.

Vitamins help feed your body.

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Last January when I decided to make some changes to my eating and actually start some type of exercise plan I knew I would need to have additional nutrition in the form of a pill. Since I was eating less I knew I would be missing out on some key vitamins in my diet until I learned more about dieting and nutrition. So I got a basic multivitamin. After a couple of months I had learned more about what my body needed as far as nutritional vitamin supplements and I set myself about finding the best ones for me. There are so many choices and brands it is hard to know where to start. Research and talking to your doctor is key to knowing what Vitamin supplements you’ll need.

Men can be so blissfully unaware.

My daughter has been sick since the beginning of December. Stuffy nose, cough, sore throat. Sometimes she felt better, sometimes worse, but would never agree to going to the Dr. She is like me and would much rather die a slow death than see a Dr. Last night she says to be, I think we can go to urgent care tomorrow.  Well, yeah except urgent care isn’t open on January 1st, with it being a holiday and all. Luckily the kids have tomorrow off too so we’ll get there first thing in the morning and wait it out. I’m pretty sure she’s got a sinus infection.  Her Dad being the “man” that he is said, “Bet you wish you’d have gone last week huh?” Dur…. we’re both pmsing and I told him now was not the time to risk his life by saying stupid things. We all got a giggle out of that one. Good thing he’s cute and buys us chocolate.
